Part of a phone conversation with my wonderful and tolerant girlfriend:
D: "Okay, I'm going to go and get some lunch. I was at the hair salon for the last few hours, so I didn't get a chance to eat lunch."
Sean: "So... You're starving to be beautiful?"
Fortunately, we were on the phone, so the hitting will be delayed. | | Thursday, March 6th, 2008 | | 9:30 am |
Help? Alright, creative types. I need to come up with a name for a environmental consulting agency that specializes in drilling wells and removing contaminants.

A/V Superhero As I sit up here in my booth, indulging in my mild mannered alter ego, I like to take stock.
University President Emmert, Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, Senator Phil Rockefeller, State Representative Fred Jarrett, King County Executive Ron Sims, and NPR host Steve Sher are all sitting down on my stage, chatting and answering questions from a thousand person audience. Every seat is filled, they're being filmed and projected to another room in the building with another 300 people, and they're being watched by innumerable more on the webcast that we put together.
And none of them have any idea that there was a huge leak that caused the stage to warp in a few places. None of them know about the asbestos scare we had today. None of them know about the incompetence and lack of organization I had to overcome to make this thing work.
Through hours of constant, frantic work, I got everything wrapped up 30 seconds before they walked out on stage, and they're never going to know that I am a superhero.
But that is how secret identities work.
Edit: Standing ovation! Wooo! | | Thursday, January 24th, 2008 | | 8:51 pm |

I got up at three thirty in a house I'd never been to before, fought through the dark, drove through fresh piles of snow long before the plows got out, got through the valley and up the hill, overcame an hour long flight delay for a one hour flight, and made it home on the buses.
I also drank a cup of Spokane coffee.
But I'm back. | | Sunday, December 23rd, 2007 | | 12:31 am |
Mountain still beautiful. Birds and other animals still follow Dad around the yard. Guns are still everywhere (I found a SHOTGUN under the mattress when I was making my parents' bed. Also, a rifle under the bed). Got another few inches of snow this morning. There is always more shoveling to do. And more wood to bring in. And more chocolate to eat.
God. So much chocolate.
I've organized some of the old Curlew Crew to meet up tomorrow, so I expect I'll have some stories come Christmas.
I'm currently listening to Mozart's 'Magic Flute' performed on marimba. Awesome.
I miss gaming with you people, which is sad, since we played less than a week ago. I guess that means I should go write the next adventure. Watch your e-mails. | | Tuesday, December 18th, 2007 | | 2:56 pm |

Guys,
Child's Play, the shockingly successful charity powered by the goodwill of gamers, is once again open for business.
If you feel up to it, pass the word along.
Check out www.childsplaycharity.org for more info. If you'd like some free warm fuzzy feelings, check out the pictures from previous years.
Though still headquartered in Seattle, Child's Play is an international effort these days, with multiple recipient hospitals all over the world. You probably have one relatively near your home. | | Thursday, November 1st, 2007 | | 11:53 pm |
I am eating Laurell K. Hamilton's cupcakes. They are delicious. | | Wednesday, August 29th, 2007 | | 9:27 am |
PAX So. PAX was a huge blast. I spent about forty hours at the convention center this weekend, and I encourage everyone to go next year. From everything I was able to gather, PAX was an extremely well-behaved (and unsmelly!) not-convention, so even if you don't like the typical con scene, you'd probably do all right.
A big thank you to the Paizo staff and volunteers for letting me tag along for another year. I had even more fun this time around.
There were fantastic concerts, sweet demos, tons of swag, and geek celebrities everywhere. Once again I didn't manage to attend any panels. There was just too much to do. But the Expo Hall was great. Everybody really brought their A-Game this year. I feel pretty safe saying that PAX has become the new E3.
That being said, Wizards of the Coast brought jack. I don't even know why they were there, let alone why they rented so much booth space.
I suppose I should take this moment to say few words about 4th Edition D&D. While I can see some of the proposed changes being of great help to folks just getting into D&D, they are mostly fixes for things that I have already dealt with at my table in my own way. What does that mean? It means I think 4th edition may be a very good thing over all (I'm willing to hold off on judging it at this point), but I can't really see myself shelling out for it anytime soon. But I suppose we'll see. | | Friday, August 17th, 2007 | | 10:16 pm |
